Vortex Volleyball Club Boys Season Tryouts 2023

What to expect at tryouts…

Upon arrival you will be assigned a tryout number and we will measure height, reach, and vertical measurements. Then each athlete will complete a 5-10-5 shuttle.

Athletes will then be run through multiple drills to be evaluated on passing, serving, hitting, blocking skills.

Lastly, athletes will be evaluated during game play. Athletes may be asked to try different positions and/or move to other courts as we assess all aspects of skill and athleticism.

Team assignment and tryout results will be sent via the email address you used to register for tryouts. (Resubscribe Tutorial)

Athletes accept their spot by signing a player contract and paying a deposit by the deadline explained in your offer email. Failure to register and pay your deposit will result in offering your placement to another athlete.

TRYOUTS

Cost is $20 if you pre-register online by July 6th, $25 day of or at the door.

Age group is how old the athlete will be on July 1st 2024.

Ages 8-14 FRIDAY, July 7th @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Ages 15-18 SATURDAY, July 8th @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Doors will open 1 hour before your tryout time to check-in. Be checked in and warmed up by your tryout time.

Club Season Details

July to November

12U Boys $925

13U-18U Boys $1,200

Includes Tournament Fees, Jerseys, team building activities, and Vortex Swag.

12U: 1.5 hour court time plus 30 mins training 2x a week, 3 one day tournaments.

13U-18U: 1.5 hour court time plus 30 mins training 2x a week, 5 tournaments.

Any additional tournaments will incur additional fees.

All clinics, tryouts and season practices will be held at F5 Athletics:

After your $400 deposit:

12U additional amount due will be split into 2 equal payments for the remainder of dues automatically withdrawn August 1 and September 1.

13U-18U additional amount will be split into 4 payments of $200 and are due August 1, September 1, October 1 and November 1.

All payments are set up on an automatic withdrawal upon registration. Parents are responsible to keep payment card information up to date. Failure to keep payment current will result in suspension of athletes participating in practices and tournaments until payments are made current.

FUNDRAISERS

We conduct 2 fundraisers per season to assist in dues and/or to help cover tournaments above and beyond what is scheduled.

Serve-A-Thon: by collecting pledges from neighbors and family/friends of any amount per serve your athlete can collect quite a chunk of change! Ex: Will asks a neighbor to pledge .10 and another neighbor pledges .25 per serve she can serve over the net and in, out of 100. On the day of the Serve-A-Thon he serves over 80 out of 100. His one neighbor would then give him $8 and the other would do $20. Some of our girl athletes have been able to make upwards of $800 in the past! *details to come!

Sponsorship: Each athlete is welcome to find a sponsor. Sponsorships are any amount and all $ goes directly toward the athletes dues. The company sponsoring will get their logo listed on our social media as a sponsor. https://vortexvolleyballutah.leagueapps.com/store
